JOURNEY

Siddhartha started his new journey alone in the forest. He gave up his royal attire and exchanged clothes with a poor hunter who had been wandering nearby. Siddhartha dressed himself like a sage and then he started to look for a guru who would show him the way to bring an end to all the sufferings of the world and let him know the truths he had been ignorant of.
He wandered through the forests and spoke with all the holy men he came across there. His polite and courteous nature earned him respect and welcome at every place he visited. Through he was now dressed in ranged clothes and ate only food that he could geg, he was still a very handsome man.
When people would see him coming, they would declare to each other that someone special was coming to them. Siddhartha studied with many teachers, but their teachings did not quite satisfy him as did not lead to perfect happiness.
He learnt that some very wise men stayed in the kingdom of Magadha, which was under the rule of King Bimbisara. So he decided to go there to find them.
He reached Rajagriha, the capital city of Magadha. As he was walking near the palace gates, one of the king’ s ministers saw him and told the king that he had seen an unusual man who, though was dressed in rags and begged for food, seemed like a great person. He managed to get the king interested in meeting the person.
The king was much impressed when he met Siddhartha, by his wisdom and intelligence. The king found him very trust-worthy and requested him to stay there and take care of his kingdom. Siddhartha thanked him and told him politely that he had already refused the chance of ruling a kingdom. He was only interested in the path of truth. He told him that he had only come to the kingdom to find teachers who could help him in his search.
The king wished him a lot of luck on his mission, and that on finding it he should come back to the place and teach him. But even if he failed in his pursuit, the king welcomed him to come back to his palace. Siddhartha thanked him and continued his journey.
